Qualified Supervisor

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)

For those coming in for the first time, we'll just meet and get to know each other. Our relationship will be one that is respectful and garners trust.

I have an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree from the University of Florida with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling from the highly ranked University of Florida Counselor Education Program. While in school, I developed an affinity for helping clients from a person-centered and solution-focused approach. As part of my training, I interned at Phoenix House; a dual diagnosis residential substance abuse rehabilitation facility. I worked with clients with substance abuse and dependence issues as well as other mental health issues.

To enhance my experience in counseling as well as coaching, and consulting, I then interned at the University of Florida's Career Resource Center (CRC). During my internship, the CRC was ranked number one in the nation for helping and guiding students and still holds that rank today. I provided counseling and consulting for any student ranging from first-year undergraduate students trying to decide on a major to Ph.D. candidates struggling with career concerns along with many other issues like depression, anxiety, life transitions issues and identity issues. I also spent time helping students through resume building workshops, interviewing skills, time management, confidence building and developing leadership skills. Following my education, I began working as a psychotherapist at an intensive outpatient substance abuse rehabilitation facility in Winter Park, Florida.

There I gained experience in individual psychotherapy as well as group psychotherapy. I further honed my skills as a counselor in the realm of counseling for substance abuse, depression, anxiety, anger, identity issues, as well as career and vocational rehabilitation, and consulting. I had an opportunity to treat the whole person rather than a small aspect of whatever issue my clients were dealing with. It was from this experience I was able to mold myself into the psychotherapist I am today. I am very proud to be able to offer the level of service I do and I am equally proud to be a member of the HD Counseling, LLC team.

** Everything discussed in a counseling session is confidential with a few exceptions concerning suicidal or homicidal ideations, child abuse or elder abuse but these things will be discussed in depth in our first meeting.
